The municipality of Benassal forms part of the local maestrazgo history, located in the interior of the province of Castellón. This oddly structured town has two town centres: the old town situated at 830 metres above sea level, and the Font d´En Segures situated at 950 metres. Surrounding this, we can find an ample selection fo decent hotels, rural accomodation possibilities and a good selection of restaurants. /p>
In the old town the narrow streets lay intact. Walking through them you will be able to appreciate the original coats of arms on the doors of the dwellings, moorish style arches and stunning balconies. It is worth mentioning the location of the tourist office, the Carlos Salvador Foundation and the local archeoogcial museum, housed in a gbroup of buildings called “La Mola” dating from the 13 Century.
At only 2km from the Old Town, towards Culla, we find the second part of Benassel, the SPA of Fond d´En Segures, where the quality and properties of the mineral waters, declared of public use in 1928, have made this area known for its peace and tranquility. Worth mentioning the fiestas in the summer season.
