Just a few metres from the top of the castle awaits this typical bar run by young proprietors. They will help you discover the pleasures of traditional tapas eaten under the roof of one of the old-fashioned houses in the old town of Peñiscola. Home made tapas: muscles, stuffed muscles, grilled calamari, young green asparagus, sliced Serrano ham, Galician octopus, battered calamari, tasty kekabs… This bar won the Province of Castellon’s 2005 Prize for Tourism in the category of Quality of Professional and Business Services.

In a prime position near to the beach, this new bar run by the owners of the legendary ‘Hook’ offer rice dishes, fideuas, and a selection of tapas to make your days on the beach feel even brighter than when sunbathing. Good conversation and even better company.

Right by the beach and next to the lovely gardens of the Hirta tower block you will come upon a bar with a wide variety of high quality tapas. They have a daytime menu, combined dishes, takeaway paellas and fideuá (a pasta based paella), and baked or stewed fish (to be ordered in advance). With a very friendly atmosphere. Come to have a look as it is one of the nicest places in town. Once there, you will surely want to sit down and have a tapa and then you become bewitched by the gastronomy list: the tastiest prawns, wonderful fish, nice cured ham and even better cheeses, etc. And if you are still hungry, you can go on to their kebabs, grilled meats, all with the best wines. Open all year.

At mid-morning come to the bar with its heaped platters of recently made sandwiches of the greatest variety. At lunch time you do not cook: a salad and a tasty bite with the beach in front of you. By mid-afternoon, take your laptop and have a nice cold beer (the area has WIFI). And at night, try their specialty: broken eggs (with surimi baby eels, foie, Iberian cured ham) accompanied by nachos, chicken wings and whatever you want.
